probably the best Ive ever seen
Napisane przez: wh3171 - 16.11.2019, 09:27 - Forum: Kosz - Odpowiedzi (1)

PHOENIX - Revenge was a fleeting thing for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Red Schoendienst Cardinals Jersey . The Milwaukee Brewers got their payback the very next pitch. Jonathan Lucroy homered twice, including a grand slam in an eventful seventh inning, and the Brewers made it two in a row over Arizona by beating the Diamondbacks 7-5 on Tuesday night. Lucroys slam to centre came on Brad Zieglers first delivery after Arizona reliever Evan Marshall was ejected for hitting Ryan Braun with a pitch. "They won the tough-guy points, but I dont know what the stats are for those," Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse said. "We won the game because of that." Brewers manager Ron Roenicke called Lucroys at-bat "probably the best Ive ever seen." "After they smoke our guy, they bring in their closer, the first pitch he sees he hits a grand slam. Theres no way an at-bat can get bigger than that," he said. It was the first grand slam and only the 16th home run allowed by Ziegler, who is not usually the Arizona closer. The Brewers couldnt understand why the Diamondbacks picked that moment to hit Braun. "We know the way the game works," Braun said. "I was surprised I got hit in that situation, those circumstances — go-ahead run at second base, tying run at third." Lucroy insisted the Diamondbacks drilling Braun did not provide added motivation. "Im not about revenge or payback," the catcher said. "Im just about winning the game. It worked out for us." Marshall (2-2) took the loss, facing three batters without getting an out after relieving starter Mike Bolsinger, who was called up from Triple-A Reno earlier in the day. Lucroy had a solo homer in the sixth. Aramis Ramirez also hit a solo shot for the Brewers. Lohse (8-2), who had hit three batters all season, plunked two in his six innings. He grazed Didi Gregorius to start the game, then hit Chris Owings just below the back of his head to start the sixth. Lohse also threw one over Bolsingers head, and the Brewers hit a batter in Monday nights win as well. All that apparently led to Marshall retaliating. "I am not going to comment on that," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said. "You have been around the game long enough." With a slight smile on his face, Marshall said he didnt hit Braun on purpose. Lohse allowed four runs, three earned, and six hits. The Brewers trailed 4-2 when he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in a five-run seventh. Arizonas Roger Kieschnick hit his first career homer, off Francisco Rodriguez to start the ninth. The ball landed in the swimming pool beyond the right-field fence. Singles by pinch-hitter Cody Ross and Gerardo Parra put runners at first and second with one out, but Rodriguez struck out Paul Goldschmidt. Miguel Montero bounced out to first to end it, and Rodriguez earned his major league-leading 22nd save. With the Brewers trailing 4-2, Jean Segura led off the seventh with his second triple of the night, off the wall in centre, and scored on Elian Herreras sacrifice fly. That ended the night for Bolsinger, who had a 4-2 lead when he left. He wound up allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks in 6 1-3 innings. Marshall came in and gave up a pinch-hit single to Lyle Overbay, then a double by Scooter Gennett to put runners on second and third. That brought up Braun. Marshalls first pitch went behind the batter, leading plate umpire Ted Barrett to walk to the mound for a nose-to-nose conversation with the Arizona pitcher. The very next pitch, Marshall plunked Braun just above the left hip to load the bases. "Thats ridiculous," Lucroy said. "Its overreacting." Barrett immediately tossed Marshall, who got high-fives from his teammates in the Diamondbacks dugout. But with the bases loaded, Lucroy homered to left-centre, above the 413-foot sign, and Milwaukee led 7-4. Gibson has been outspoken since Brauns 65-game suspension last year for violating baseballs drug agreement during the 2011 season, which included the sluggers big series when the Brewers edged the Diamondbacks in the NL playoffs. Asked if he thought that figured in Marshalls pitch, Braun said: "Youd have to ask him (Gibson). I wish him the best, hope he finds peace and happiness in his life." NOTES: It was the second ejection for the Diamondbacks in two nights. Gibson was tossed in the ninth inning Monday. ... A victory would have lifted Arizona out of last place in the NL West. ... To make room for Bolsinger, the Diamondbacks optioned reliever Will Harris to Triple-A Reno. ... Brewers CF Carlos Gomez sat out his second consecutive game with a sore hamstring. ... In the third game of the four-game series Wednesday night, the Brewers send Matt Garza (4-4, 4.17 ERA) to the mound against Wade Miley (3-6, 4.71). Bobby Tolan Cardinals Jersey . The CFL unveiled its 2014 schedule Wednesday and the Redblacks will play their first-ever regular-season game in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers on July 3. Starter Matt Jackson didnt have his best stuff and the Goldeyes bats failed to boom as the Sioux City Explorers whipped the Fish 6-1 in a getaway day matinee at Shaw Park on Wednesday. Jackson was tagged for five runs on nine hits in five innings of work and the only run the Goldeyes could muster was a solo home run by rightfielder Jordan Guida as the Fish dropped the rubber match of this three-game set with Sioux City and fell to 8-5 on the season. “They pitched really well against us, not just today but throughout the entire series,” said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. “Today, their pitching dominated us. Weve been really struggling to put three or four good at bats together. Today, their starter did a real good job and they were solid out of the bullpen.” Mark Sobolewski and Peter Barrows each had a pair of runs batted in, former Canadian national team member Rene Tosoni hit a solo homer off Goldeyes reliever Kaohi Downing and former Goldeyes infielder Nate Samson had three hits and scored two runs as the Xs built a 5-0 lead and coasted to the series win. Pitcher Kohei Tsukada was terrific, holding the Goldeyes to onee run on four hits over six complete innings. Ken Boyer Jersey. Guida, the Goldeyes player of the game, went two-for-three with a walk and his solo homer in the fifth. Forney had kudos for his seldom-used utility player after the game. Guida is now hitting .583 in 12 at bats this season. “Jordan has had some real good at bats,” Forney said. “Hes going to the plate with a plan, hes patient and he knows what he wants up there. Hes been impressive.” Guida himself admitted that when he came to the plate in the fifth, a home run was the furthest thing from his mind. “I just wanted to get a pitch I could drive,” he said. “And I have to admit, I was trying to go the other way and the ball just left my bat and went out of the park.” Tsukada (1-0, 0.84 ERA) earned the win for Sioux City while Jackson (2-1, 3.50 ERA) suffered the loss. There was no save. The Goldeyes will now open a four-game home series with the Lincoln Saltdogs on Thursday night. Nick Hernandez (0-0, 8.00 ERA) will start for the Goldeyes while Zach Varce (1-0, 3.27 ERA) will take to the bump for Lincoln. Game time is 7 p.m. ' ' '

After arguably the greatest group stage to ever grace
Napisane przez: wh3171 - 16.11.2019, 09:24 - Forum: Kosz - Brak odpowiedzi

Day in 100 words or less Welcome back Brazil 2014. Fake Adidas Jerseys . Oh how we missed you. Gone for just a day, you returned for us all to enjoy on Saturday, as a mini Copa America took place to start the knock out stages. You didnt return with a little tease. You didnt flirt with us, showing brief moments that will take our breath away. No, no. You were even more gorgeous than we remembered, handing us a game that brought all of our emotions to the core and a sensational, radiant maestro who continues to shine light on all that is glorious about you. Brazil 1-1 Chile (Brazil win 3-2 on pens) After arguably the greatest group stage to ever grace a World Cup we could have understood if the World Cups knock-out stages had given us a couple of games low on drama, particularly with what was on the line. What a load of nonsense. Brazil 2014 has laughed in the face of hyperbole at past World Cups, tactical trends and many other stereotypes and it was at it again on Saturday, handing us an instant classic the moment the knock out stages began. There is nothing like a World Cup. Nothing. Part of what makes it so incredible special is watching teams dance so close to that line of elimination. On Saturday in the Belo Horizonte sunshine, the host nation danced precariously close to that line. It is a line that past champions have flirted with often, including in the last 16. Back in 2006, Italy needed a 95th minute controversial winner from Francesco Totti to send Australia home and in 1998 holders France couldnt get by Paraguay until a 113th minute golden goal winner by Laurent Blanc. Brazil clearly have a long way to go to be added to that list but the millions of Brazilians watching this game have their mind on one thing and one thing only - the World Cup trophy. Before Saturday, the mandate was clear. Win four games and lift the trophy inside the Maracana on July 13th. Easier said than done. Chile were always the team they didnt want to face. When the draw was made, many looked at a possible Brazil-Spain knockout game but Luiz Felipe Scolari feared Chile more. On Saturday, we found out why. For a nation that expects, the atmosphere was like a carnival at kick-off. There was very little sense of tension. Brazil came out of the blocks flying, pressing high, recovering balls quickly and countering through the blistering speed of Neymar. A goal seemed inevitable and it came through the route all Chile fans feared. Neymars corner, flicked on by Thiago Silva, and poked in by David Luiz at the back post ignited the carnival further. Brazil were in complete control and Chile were shell-shocked, overawed by the occasion. Then another error on Brazils left side of their defence and the lethal combination of Eduardo Vargas and Alexis Sanchez gave them the goal they needed. Chiles nerves were gone and their confidence blossomed. Brazil, through Hulk, had some of the games better chances in the second half but Chile were the better side. The carnival disappeared and the tension flooded the stadium. Eleven players in yellow with the weight of over 200 million people on their shoulders. Chile grew stronger sensing an opportunity. Jorge Sampaoli, their wonderfully animated coach, did what he could but he was powerless. Deep in thought must have been what could have been if Arturo Vidal was anywhere close to the player Juventus fans have been lucky to watch closely. Clearly not fit, the talisman was withdrawn from the cauldron close to the end of 90 minutes and it was a cruel blow for such a special player who clearly could have had a massive influence on this game if not for knee surgery last month. Extra time came, Chile tired, Brazil tightened and penalties were inevitable, even though Mauricio Pinilla smashed the bar in the final seconds. The tension was unbearable for many and then referee Howard Webb got to do what he looked destined to do four years ago. The lottery of penalties it was called by the commentator. How naive. As the game came to a climax, both sides will have statistical analysis on each of the players. Even prepared writers had the stats. Julio Cesar had stopped six of 18 penalties in the last five years. Claudio Bravo had faced 16 spot kicks and prevented three. These stats and plenty more make the experience and education of preparing for a shootout much more worthwhile. For example, here is how Gareth Wheeler and I prepared for the penalties on TSN Radio. Seven of the last eight winners in World Cup shootouts went first and Brazil won the toss and did exactly that. David Luizs opener was worth much more than just one goal. When Julio Cesar saved from Pinilla the odds stacked heavily against the visitors. Only four of the previous 22 World Cup shootouts had seen a team miss first and advance. Chile would get it back to 2-2 through four shootouts but Brazil still had the advantage, knowing a goal would put their opponents in a must score scenario. That pressure fell on Neymar. As the television screens worldwide showed Marcelo Diaz celebrating his penalty, the face of the Brazilian side broke away from his teammates and made the lonely walk by himself. From the moment the eighth penalty was kicked, Neymar had 33 seconds to think about whatever entered his mind. Then he received the ball off the referee and placed it down. 52 seconds had now ticked by before he started his run up. He did a little jig of a dance, oh so close to the line of elimination, checked his run, waiting for the keeper to move but it never happened, forcing him to choose a side. Naturally, Neymar went to his natural side (right footed players hitting it to the left) sliding it to the keepers right. David Luiz was their to greet him as he walked back, a very important sign of unity and intimidation as Chiles fifth taker walked by.Gonzalo Jara then had to score. He went to his unnatural side, guessed correctly by Julio Cesar, but the post kept the ball out and Brazil partied long into the night. Brazil had escaped. They were, once again, miles away from the standard they need to reach but now they are only three games away from their goal. Julio Cesar, Thiago Silva, Hulk and Neymar stood out for the Brazilians while many others didnt. A move to 4-3-3 in the second half, with Oscar, centrally and deeper, seems to be the right way going forward but Neymars boys will need to be much, much better to stay in this tournament. After all, he is coming up against another absolute star number ten in yellow... Colombia 2-0 Uruguay Uruguay made no friends in the wake of the latest Luis Suarez biting incident. Oscar Washington Tabarez is a fine gentleman who has done wonders for that country and that federation but his 12 minute rant at a press conference on Friday was sad to see. It was seen as a way of firing up his team but, in truth, they were lifeless in attack once again. It was always going to be difficult for the team to come from behind, much like against Costa Rica (and not against England and Italy) and once one moment of brilliance turned the game, Uruguay were very close to joining Suarez at home. James Rodriguez is now the undisputed player of the tournament so far. A man who wasnt even born the last, and only, time Colombia played a knock out round at the World Cup (1990). His goal changed the game and changed the path for his country as they marched down a road to the World Cup quarter finals for the first time ever. It was a goal you will see over and over again. A goal made by spatial awareness, supreme football intelligence and incredible technique. 27:18 James moves into space between the lines... 27:24 The play develops and still he finds space in that area, constantly moving... 27:27 Still operating between the lines, showing for the ball... 27:31 Here is the brilliance. Ball finally comes his way and here is "the look". A glance behind to see if any defenders are coming tight behind him. Knowing they are not he plays out what is about to happen in his mind before the ball reaches him... Setting himself up for the best goal of the World Cup so far... Man of the day Nominees... Neymar - his pace was a constant threat for Chile and his penalty ended up sending them home. Claudio Bravo - the Chilean goalkeeper was excellent throughout the match and made a big save in the shootout. Julio Cesar - made two superb stops to turn the tide in the shootout. James Rodriguez - a wonderful strike followed by a tap in he helped create meant he, fittingly, carried Colombia into the last eight. Juan Cuadrado - Buried in the shadow of James, the winger has been superb in this tournament and was no different against Uruguay. The winner... Julio Cesar - Seen as the villain of the 2010 World Cup exit, the Brazilian goalkeeper was trusted by his manager to be the number one at the World Cup even when he was on the bench at QPR. He returned that trust and guided Brazil over an enormous hurdle. What comes next? Netherlands vs Mexico (12pm/9am) and Greece vs Costa Rica (4pm/1pm). Burning question for Sunday Do the Netherlands have the midfield trio to be able to match up and keep the ball off Mexicos effective midfield three?   whether its one person or half the team and all the coaching staff
Napisane przez: wh3171 - 16.11.2019, 09:20 - Forum: Kosz - Odpowiedzi (1)

Who should stay, and who should go? That is the question facing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as they work to rebuild a roster and a winning culture in the same way the football club built the countrys first new CFL stadium in over three decades. Cheap Air Max 90 Black . They can only hope the process will see less construction delays and bumps along the way, but result in a similar jewel of a finished product that is Investors Group Field. Despite his own fate remaining an unknown at this juncture, it is clear head coach Tim Burke is heavily involved in analyzing and evaluating Winnipegs current roster as they look toward an offseason that may be their busiest in franchise history. "There will be changes of some kind, whether its one person or half the team and all the coaching staff. Who knows what itll be," said Burke as he prepares his 3-14 team for their season finalé at home against Hamilton. "We meet as a staff, and then (acting general manager Kyle Walters) and I meet together." Burke and Walters have noticed a trend in some of their players. "(The conversations) have been going on and they continue to go on because some guys surprise you, more that they dont have the heart, dont have the competitive spirit that they need to have. So you dont want to go forward with those guys in the future." Those who see playing time on Saturday and those who do not may indicate who will be around next season, or elsewhere. "Some of them have showed their true colours this week," added Burke. "And so they wont play (against Hamilton)." One of the players who is working to leave a noticeable mark is Johnny Sears, who, since returning from a long-term foot injury in Week 15, has been an injection of energy and tenacity into a team in desperate need of it. Sears is a player who clearly understands the audition process so many Blue Bombers are currently being subjected to by Burke and Walters, as well as others around the CFL. "Someone has to remember me, if not my team, before I leave (for the season)," said the versatile fourth-year pro who has lined up at corner, halfback, and nickelback this month. "Youve got to make a demanding impact, and thats what I try to bring." "With trades, to get released, or new coaching staff, you dont know whos watching," added Sears, who understands the current situation in the CFL with an expansion team joining this winter and his club in a rebuilding phase. "Everybody is watching, but you dont know whos taking notes on you. So whatever you put on film on the field, somebody might like it and somebody may not. The person who may like it might be your next boss, so its all in the resumé... I think thats in the back of every players mind." "Who knows whats going to happen. An example, for our season, were all playing for our next job. Who knows what it may be? I may be here. I may be gone. I dont know... If I am gone, Im playing hard enough for somebody else to want me or play good enough for them to keep me here." Sears, 26, remains under contract with the Bombers through the 2014 season. The 3-14 Blue Bombers are working to avoid tying their lowest season win total since a 2-14 finish back in 1970. "Right now we just want a victory," said the head coach. "This is going to be our last week together, last game together as a team. And this is what I told them... Somebody in that room is going to be playing for Ottawa next year. Maybe two or three. Who knows? Some guys, this will be their last game they ever play in their life. This is a chance for us to go out together as a team and play as a team and play our hearts out." Notes: Some players who may miss action this week due to injury include defensive ends Kenny Mainor (shoulder) and Greg Peach (groin), offensive linemen Glenn January (undisclosed) and Patrick Neufeld (lower-body), receiver Terrence Edwards (undisclosed), and nickelback Desia Dunn (undisclosed)... Defensive tackle Zach Anderson returns to the lineup this week after missing the last two games... Running back Mario Fannin, who was signed to the practice roster on October 1, is expected to get a solid look in game action this week. Off White X Air Max 90 Ice White . The Austrian ski federation said Morgenstern was "conscious and well responsive" and his condition would be monitored in the intensive care unit of a Salzburg hospital for the next 72 hours. The federation said it was "way too early" to judge Morgensterns chances of competing in Sochi, and that an update on his condition was not expected before Monday. http://www.outletairmax90cheap.com/outle...p-411.html . -- Gary Harris gave No.Ronald Koeman praised the impact of substitute Sadio Mane after he inspired Southampton to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday. The Senegal international started on the bench at St Marys after having his red card against Stoke overturned. When he was introduced at the break with Saints 2-0 behind he missed the chance to cut the deficit as he saw a penalty saved. However, he recovered from the setback to score Saints first goal in the 64th minute and then the winner late in the game shortly after Graziano Pelle equalised. It has been a difficult time for him, Koeman told Sky Sports. He didnt start today or last week but his reaction was fantastic. He kept the belief after missing the penalty and he was important in the second half. Him and Victor (Wanyama) had a big impact. Sadio Mane celebrates Southamptons winner The win keeps Southamptons quest for a European finish on track withh seven games of the season left to play. Wholesale Air Max 90 Black. You need to keep going, said Koeman. We have taken six points from two games against Stoke and Liverpool - two must win-games.These six points give everybody a big boost but there is still a long way to go. The game after the international break is against Leicester which will be amazing against the leaders and we will try to stop them.Reflecting on his sides display, Koeman admitted he was concerned at 2-0 down.I was a bit worried because you need to take risks and that gives Liverpool more space and they have top quality players to punish you for that, he said.We were lucky not to be 3-0 down at half-time. Even though we missed a penalty it was great character and spirit, there were several moments that Liverpool let us off but we had 100 per cent belief we could come back and to win from 2-0 is a big compliment to the players.   Halladays resume as a Blue Jay is among the elite

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Air Max Plus Homme Pas Cher . -- As expected, coach John Fox has officially ruled out Wes Welker for Denvers game against San Diego on Thursday night because of a concussion. The NFLs protocol for concussed players would have allowed Welker only to participate in light practice Thursday and only if he had passed baseline cognitive tests earlier in the week. For competitive purposes, Fox had been coy about Welkers status during the week, other than to say the receivers health was the teams top priority. Welker was going low to catch a pass Sunday when Tennessee safety George Wilson legally hit him in the side of his neck, knocking him from the game. Rankings were weighted evenly between separate lists made by TSN Radio host and soccer analyst Gareth Wheeler as well as TSN.cas soccer editors. 1. Manchester City (Last Week-2) Manchester City climbed to the top of the table with another emphatic victory, 5-1 on the road against Tottenham.  Sergio Aguero scored the first of the five goals but then limped off the field just before halftime with a hamstring injury, causing some concern for the new league leaders. 2. Chelsea (LW-1) Chelsea heavily dominated the action, firing 39 shots on goal including two clear scoring chances in added time but were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw with West Ham.  Frank Lampard had probably the best chance of the game in the 97th minute but was denied the goal that would have won the game. 3. Arsenal (LW-3) Arsenal was only able to get a point out of their trip to St Marys Stadium as they settled for a 2-2 draw with Southampton.   Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla scored four minutes apart but the elusive third goal never arrived for the Gunners. 4. Liverpool (LW-5) The 222nd Merseyside Derby was painted red by Liverpools emphatic 4-0 victory over Everton.  Steven Gerrard converted a Luis Suarez corner to open the scoring, before Daniel Sturridge scored twice in two minutes to put the game away.  Suarez would get one of his own and Sturridge would miss a penalty in the one-sided contest. 5. Manchester United (LW-8) Juan Mata debuted, while Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney returned to lead Manchester United to a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City.  Van Persie opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Ashley Young put the game away with a screamer in the 59th minute. 6. Tottenham (LW-4) A red card to Danny Rose and a penalty for the same offence doomed Tottenham in their 5-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.  Michael Dawson also had a goal controversially ruled out for offside that would have equalized the game early and could have changed Spurs fortunes. 7. Everton (LW-6) There were not many positives for Everton as they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby.  Adding injury to insult, Romelu Lukaku was stretchered from the field with an ankle injury. 8. Newcastle United (LW-7) Loic Remy was sent off for Newcastle in an altercation with Norwichs Bradley Johnson who was also shown red in a game that ended in a 0-0 draw. 9. Southampton (LW-9) Jose Fonte and Adam Lallana scored on either side of halftime as Southammpton drew Arsenal 2-2 in a wild, back and forth contest. Nike Air Max Plus Soldes. nbsp; Lallana tied the game for good just two minutes after Santi Cazorla had given the Gunners their first lead of the match. 10. Aston Villa (LW-10) The West Midlands derby was a wild affair that was settled in the favour of Villa, 4-3 over West Brom.  Christian Benteke scored the deciding goal from the penalty spot after his team battle back from an early 2-0 deficit. 11. Swansea City (LW-14) For the first time in nine games, Swansea earned all three points in a Barclays Premier League game after beating Fulham 2-0.  Jonjo Shelvey and Chico Flores found the scoresheet for the Swans. 12. Norwich City (LW-13) Norwich traded red cards with Newcastle but neither team scored in a 0-0 draw.  Bradley Johnson was shown red for Norwich City after getting into an altercation with Newcastles Loic Remy who was also sent off for the infraction. 13. Crystal Palace (LW-16) Jason Puncheon earned himself another Barclays Premier League winning goal as he led Palace over Hull City 1-0.  Tony Pulis continues his efforts to save Crystal Palace from the relegation zone. 14. West Bromwich Albion (LW-11) Chris Brunt and a Fabian Delph own goal gave West Brom an early 2-0 lead but in the end they dropped the West Midlands derby 4-3 to Aston Villa.  15. Hull City (LW-12) Hulls new strike partnership of Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic were not able to find the net as the Tigers fell to Crystal Palace 1-0.  Hull dropped their fourth straight Barclays Premier League match. 16. Sunderland (LW-17) Adam Johnson was the difference as Sunderland climbed out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Stoke City. 17. Stoke City (LW-15) Steven Nzonzis red card early in the second half ended any thoughts of a Stoke fight back as they fell 1-0 to Sunderland.  This was Stokes sixth straight league game without a victory. 18. West Ham United (LW-18) With only one shot on target and 28% of the possession, West Ham managed to hold on for a 0-0 draw with Chelsea.  Keeper Adrian was forced to be brilliant many times during the contest and answered the bell each time he was called upon to secure the point for his team. 19. Cardiff City (LW-19) Ole Gunnar Solskjaers return to Old Trafford was spoiled as his Cardiff side were defeated 2-0 by Manchester United.  The Welsh side remains at the bottom of the table. 20. Fulham (LW-20) Brede Hangeland and Ashkan Dejagah both failed to convert first-half chances for Fulham as they fell 2-0 to Swansea City.  ' ' '

HOUSTON -- Chris Carter homered twice and tied a career high with five RBIs to lead the Houston Astros over the Minnesota Twins 10-4 on Tuesday night. St. Louis Cardinals Pro Shop . The game was tied in the third inning when Carters two-out, two-run drive to the Crawford Boxes in left field put Houston up 3-1. Carter connected again on his next at-bat with a three-run shot in the fifth which chased Minnesota rookie starter Yohan Pino (1-5). Carter leads the majors with 15 homers since July 1 and his six multihomer games this season ties a franchise record set by Lance Berkman in 2006. Tuesday was his second multi-homer game in a week and his 28 home runs are third in the American League and just one shy of his total in 2013. Collin McHugh (5-9) allowed four hits and a run in six innings for the win. Oswaldo Arcia homered twice for the Twins for his first career multihomer game. He gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead in the second inning and added a two-run shot in the ninth. Jake Marisnick, who finished with two hits, tied it with a solo homer to start Houstons third before Carters first home run put Houston on top. McHugh had retired nine in a row when Danny Santana doubled with no outs in the sixth inning. But McHugh sat down the next three Twins to end the inning. The Twins couldnt string any hits together and didnt have more than one baserunner in an inning once on Tuesday night. Minnesotas Joe Mauer singled in the first to extend his hitting streak to a season-high 14 games in his second game back from the disabled list. Pino allowed a season-high seven runs on seven hits in 4 1-3 innings for his third straight loss. Houstons Jose Altuve pushed his major league-leading hit total to 165 with three hits and two RBIs. It was his 51st multihit game, which also leads the majors. Marwin Gonzalez and Altuve both hit RBI singles in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 9-1 and Robbie Grossman drove in a run with a double in the eighth. Kennys Vargas added a solo homer in the ninth inning for Minnesota. TRAINERS ROOM Minnesota: RHP Ricky Nolasco (elbow) is scheduled to come off the disabled list to start for the Twins on Friday. Manager Ron Gardenhire said theyll likely limit him to 80-85 pitches. Houston: Manager Bo Porter said CF Dexter Fowler (back) will come off the DL and start on Wednesday. Fowler hasnt played since June 26. Fellow outfielder George Springer (quadriceps) had a setback in his rehabilitation and will be shut down for two weeks. Springer has been out since July 19. UP NEXT Houston LHP Brett Oberholtzer opposes Kyle Gibson. The Astros have won the last five games started by Oberholtzer. Gibson pitched seven scoreless inning in a win over the Astros on June 7. SOME KIND OF LUCK Tim Pinkard went from having never caught a home run ball to grabbing two of them on Tuesday night. Pinkard, who was visiting from Washington, D.C., caught both of Carters homers. Decked out in Astros gear, a beaming Pinkard raised his hands with a ball in each of them after snagging the second one. He texted his wife to tell her what happened and she didnt believe him until he sent pictures. "I wanted to sit in the Crawford Boxes because I know its one of the intricacies of this park, and I knew a lot of home runs get hit here," Pinkard said. "I knew this was home run territory, but I honestly didnt expect to catch anything." John Gant Cardinals Jersey . Vincent Lamar Carter is no longer the lean, athletic dynamo who dazzled Raptors fans with eye-popping dunks that posterized even the leagues best defenders. Genesis Cabrera Jersey . According to various reports, the striker is about to sign a five-and-a-half year extension with Manchester United worth a reported 300,000 pounds a week that would see him at Old Trafford until 2019. https://www.cheapcardinalsonline.com/274...inals.html . A steady downpour and low temperatures were predicted for much of the night. No makeup date was immediately announced, although it was determined that the game will not be part of a doubleheader on Wednesday.Nineteen points in 11 matches played.  Tops in the Eastern Conference, second-best in all of MLS, an average of 1.73 points per game. Currently sitting in a playoff spot.  Not a bad start, is it?  Welcome to the new world of Toronto FC. Toronto FC entered the World Cup break with a combative 1-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, upping their record to 6-4-1.  There is nothing cosmic about Toronto FCs newfound positive fortunes.  The recipe has been simple: commitment to defensive workrate, sound team structure with a true game-breaker in front of goal.  Its been that cliché, yet poignant never-say-die kind of stuff.  Just how the team wants it. The first half Saturday was arguably the best 45 minutes played on the season.  Toronto FC went toe-to-toe with San Joses physical play.  The movement, the use of space, the passing and shape were prominent, but it was team commitment standing out the most:  50/50 battles.  Getting stuck in.  Getting forward and pushing onwards.  The simple stuff.  A winning attitude is being developed and dedication to the crest has never stood out so much.  We sometimes focus too much on tactics, formations and Xs and Os.  There are many reasons teams win or lose.  Its oftentimes the basic intangibles that first need to be established before the more complicated follow. Thus far, the basics have been the difference between points and no points.  This is the first step and its a big one. The bar will continue to be raised.  Team approach will be tested.  It will be up to the manager and individual quality to take this team from being good to potentially great.  The appetite lived up to standing.  The main course begins post-World Cup. Here are my five thoughts on Toronto FC at the World Cup break: 1. Trader Tim – General manager Tim Bezbatchenko has been a busy man in his first eight-plus months on the job.  An off-season overhaul was required and mission accomplished, but it was evident the team was still a work in progress to start the year.  Too thin at some positions and too weak at others.  The ensuing in-season adjustments have followed and have come with purpose and all look to be solid moves.  Gale Agbossoumonde, Issey-Nakajima-Farran, Alvaro Rey and allocation money go out, with Luke Moore, Collen Warner and Dominic Oduro coming in.  With the acquired players come great salary, but more substance.  These are all considerable moves and represent potential starters in exchange for players either battling for roles or ones who have fallen out of favour.  Moore has two goals in four games and has paired well with Jermain Defoe up front.  He holds up the ball and is a supplementary goal-scoring threat that was desperately needed.  Warner filled a significant gap at defensive midfield.  It is clear head coach Ryan Nelsen prefers a diamond in the midfield, with a central player sitting on top of the back four.  Warner is the man tasked with the job and his true importance will come to light once Michael Bradley returns from the World Cup.  He deservedly won Man of the Match Saturday, rarely out of position and confident on the ball.  Oduro has just arrived, but adds more pace to an already dangerous counter-attack.  Hes a proven MLS commodity and a useful player, adaptable to play either up front or wide right, particularly in a 4-3-3 if required.  It may be early, but from the outset all three trades seem like a win for Bezbatchenko.  The rookie GM deserves significant credit for these moves in addition to off-season trades for Jackson and always-impressive Justin Morrow.  Bez knows the league and has massively upgraded the depth of the roster.  No ego.  No meddling agents.  Just business.  This Tim deserves credit. 2. Big money, big results – Defoe with seven goals in eight games.  Check.  Michael Bradley as on-field general, influential leader with a game-winning goal under his belt, looking to be among the top players already in MLS.  Check.  You get what you pay for.  The early returns reinforce Toronto purchased absolute quality.  No player may ever justify a $7 million per year salary in MLS, not even David Beckham, but if youre trying to reach for the stars, then get there. Mike Matheny Cardinals Jersey.   Any misplaced cynicism about either signing is gone.  These two make Toronto FC an instant MLS Cup threat, no question.  The waiting game on the third Designated Player, Gilberto, continues.  He has more games missed through injury (two) than goals scored (none).  Its been a tough transition for the Brazilian: new city, new country, new language and new life.  Never mind the fact hes playing in a new league and with new expectations.  Flat-out, Gilberto has been disappointing, but weve seen flashes.  The hope is the flashes turn into moments that turn into games.  One has to wonder how much patience will be given.  DP spots are gold, especially for a club like Toronto FC that can pay for quality.  3. Points earned – It cannot be said the team has hit absolute stride.  It has been ugly at times with Toronto FC grinding out results.  They have only out-possessed opponents twice on the season and more consistent build-up is essential.  Distribution needs work, as does movement off the ball.  The learning curve has been made more difficult through injury in the team and a wonky schedule.  Chalk up an early season 3-0 loss at Real Salt Lake in the ugly category, while a 2-1 home loss to New England disappointing.  Other than that, a difficult schedule has played out favourably and late goals have come, more often scored than conceded.  Late tallies against Columbus (twice), New York, and Sporting Kansas City have either won or secured points.  Its these kinds of performances that bode well long term.  Its characteristic of winning teams to win while not at their best.  Progress. 4. Nellies team – We are witnessing the maturation of a head coach.  Nelsen was in a difficult position last year, coming straight off the field as player, late into the fray, into a completely new context as a first-time coach with a subpar team.  It was as tough an introduction to coaching as one can imagine.  Nelsen survived the off-season purge and was given requisite tools to succeed for his sophomore adventure.  He may still have critics, but patience is needed.  Week by week, Nelsens in-game management has grown.  His substitution patterns have been spot-on and his read for the game is becoming more apparent.  It was a calculated gamble by the previous regime to hand over the reigns to a man with no experience, but a natural leader and well liked within the game.  Its paying off.  Nelsen was essential to the recruitment of the likes of Defoe, Julio Cesar, Steven Caldwell and Bradley Orr.  And its no secret his players love to play for him.  Nelsen doesnt apologize for his team, but he sticks up for them, stands by them and doesnt throw any player under the bus.  The culture created is a positive one and the benefits are being reaped.  5. Areas for Improvement – It must be kept in mind the team is still a work in progress and there are clear areas in need of improvement and/or upgrades.  Deficiencies in ball possession and passing have already been documented, as have the struggles of Gilberto.  Doneil Henry needs to find stability in his game with more consistent one-v-one defending, decision-making and positioning.  With Henry, its worth having patience, as he is a budding stud centre-back.  Improvement on the wings is also required.  This may come through trade or transfer.  The team often plays too narrowly with Jonathan Osorio more comfortable playing inside than on the left side.  Tactically, after early season relentless high pressure, the team has become too comfortable sitting too far back in defence.  There needs to be a balance here, and it hasnt been found yet.  Most importantly for TFC, they must get Defoe the ball.  It needs to be much better and more frequent.  Defoes been relegated to being too much of a chaser.  Service at his feet is mandatory to ultimately get the most out of their prized striker. Toronto FC is off until a June 27th trip to New York to take on the Red Bulls (4-5-6).  ' ' '

qualified for the Champions League in four seasons

As 2014 winds to a close, TSN. Fake Jerseys 2019 .ca looks back at the stories and moments that made the year memorable. TSN.cas writing staff reflects on the best soccer moments from the past 12 months including Steven Gerrards infamous slip, Germany drubbing Brazil, Landon Donovans goodbye and more! Steven Gerrard lets Liverpool slip By Mike Beauvais This does not [expletive] slip now. Listen. Listen. This is gone. We go to Norwich. Exactly the same. We go again. Come on! - Steven Gerrard following a 3-2 win over Manchester City on April 13. The turnaround at Anfield under manager Brendan Rodgers was remarkable in 2013-14. In only his second year, Rodgers took a team that hadn’t qualified for the Champions League in four seasons. There was truly a sense that this would finally be Liverpool’s year after nearly a quarter-century of heartbreak. The greatest test for Rodgers’ seeming team of destiny was a clash on April 27 against Chelsea at Anfield. It was here that the football gods, like they have so many times before, revealed their cruel sense of humour. Into first-half stoppage, Mamadou Sakho attempted to find Gerrard, who mishandled the pass, allowing Chelsea striker Demba Ba to pounce upon the ball. With Ba having a clear path to goal, Gerrard slipped attempting to get back, allowing Ba to go in alone and fire Chelsea ahead 1-0. Chelsea would add another, easing to a 2-0 victory, stopping Liverpool’s winning streak and effectively killing the Reds’ title push. The following week, Liverpool would blow a 3-0 lead, settling for a 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, a clear sign that their sense of a fated triumph had been replaced by a creeping dread. On May 11 - with word of City’s 2-0 title-clinching win over West Ham filtering into Anfield just after the Reds’ 2-1 victory against Newcastle - Liverpool stood on the pitch as runners-up, condemned to second-best by a literal slip-up by the very man who warned against it. -- Tim Howard just won’t stop By Shane McNeil Tim Howard earned a name for himself as the Americans’ savior during the 2014 World Cup with an almost-unfathomable 16 saves in the team’s quarter-final loss to Belgium. Howard broke a tournament record over his two hours on the pitch in the game that ultimately eliminated the Americans. The performance earned the 35-year-old Everton man the adulation of a nation and even a shout-out from President Barack Obama in a post-game phone call. Missed the game? Here’s a handy recap. But here’s the funny thing about that game … of all the saves Howard made, his best of the tournament was not among them. That status belongs to what should have been a back-of-the-net blunder against Portugal. Howard gets a hand to Nani’s shot from distance, but in-doing so fails to put the ball out of play, or even out of harm. Instead, it goes off the woodwork and on to the boot of Eder. The follow-up shot is actually mishit, which forces Howard past the trajectory of the ball, but Howard reaches out a palm as he’s fading away and parries the ball over the bar. Even Howard recognizes afterwards that that ball should’ve gone in. -- Germany Drops a Touchdown on Brazil By Mitchell Machtinger Brazil was tabbed by many as the team to beat in the tournament on their home soil. It seemed almost inevitable that the host nation would claim its sixth title in front of all its fans, but first they had to win their semifinal against Germany. Low-scoring matches in soccer are to be expected, especially when high quality opponents faceoff. However, 11 minutes in, Germany scored its first goal. They scored again at the 23rd minute. Then again a minute later, and two more in the next five minutes. This semifinal, which was supposed to feature two of the best teams in the world, was over before the first half whistle was blown. Germany’s five-goal explosion had deflated the entire stadium and an entire country. The Germans looked dominant, winning 7-1, while Brazil looked like they had no business being in a semifinal at all. Just how easily Germany handled Brazil was a complete shock to soccer experts and casual fans alike. The story of this game was Brazil’s loss. But it’s important not to overlook just how good this German team was. They did go on to win the World Cup, after all. -- Landon Donovan Goes Out on Top By Ken Rodney He didn’t score either goal - those were provided by Gyasi Zardes and Robbie Keane - but as he was many times for club and country, the most important person on the field for the MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy was retiring captain Landon Donovan. After announcing earlier in the season that he would be calling it quits, the Ontario, California native was in the spotlight for Major League Soccer and he did not disappoint. Earlier in the season, before the retirement announcement, Donovan scored twice against the Philadelphia Union to become the MLS’ all-time leading scorer, a record that now sits at 144 goals. He was also famously left off the U.S. national soccer team that competed at the Word Cup in Brazil, after helping them advance to the quarter-finals in 2002 and the round of 16 in 2010. Still, none of that seemed to matter as he stood in the field of the StubHub Center with his arms raised in the air triumphantly after capturing his league record sixth MLS Cup. The MLS’ most celebrated, most decorated player and its marquee player, going out on top. Fake Jerseys Online . The 24-year-old Raley was 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA for Chicago in his first two career starts after being called up from Iowa on Aug. 7. He was optioned to Iowa on Monday after losing 3-0 to Cincinnati in Chicago on Sunday. Fake NHL Jerseys .C. - Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek says guard Goran Dragic will return to the starting lineup against the Charlotte Hornets after missing the last two games with a strained back. http://www.fakejersey.com/fake-college-jerseys/ . The Miami Heat star tops the leagues global list of top-selling jerseys for the 2012-13 season, edging Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and James Heat teammate Dwyane Wade for the No.FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Coach Mike Smith took his first steps to help the Atlanta Falcons return to NFL relevance, firing defensive line coach Ray Hamilton and offensive line coaches Pat Hill and Paul Dunn on Monday night. One day after ending a 4-12 season, Smith said the team must get tougher to win the line of scrimmage on both sides of the line. Smith said that defensive co-ordinator Mike Nolan, offensive co-ordinator Dirk Koetter and special teams co-ordinator Keith Armstrong will return next season. The firings of Hamilton, Hill and Dunn were hardly surprising as Atlantas offensive and defensive lines rarely won game-long battles on the line of scrimmage. Quarterback Matt Ryan was sacked a career-high 44 times. Poor play on the defensive line led to Atlanta entering Week 17 ranked last in third-down efficiency, 29th in scoring and 28th in total yards. General manager Thomas Dimitroff lamented "missed assessments" on acquiring some players and letting others go and how those moves affected the entire team. When training camp started, neither Smith nor Dimitroff envisioned holding a news conference to discuss anything worse than a loss in the Super Bowl after the Falcons narrowly lost the NFC title game last season. But injuries to star wideout Julio Jones, left tackle Sam Baker and defensive end Kroy Biermann were too much to overcome. Sean Weatherspoon, supposed to be Atlantas only every-down linebacker, was hurt and limited to just seven games. Receiver Roddy White and running back Steven Jackson played injured most of the season. "We believe we have a talented football team here and that we need to make adjustments," Dimitroff said, ";but I really, truly believe we have the nucleus and the coach and the leadership to turn this around quickly within our off-season. Fake Soccer Jerseys. Though Smith and Dimitroff wouldnt cite specific players, they didnt dispute that the offensive line was a disaster. Peter Konz was overmatched as a starting centre and starting right guard. The right tackle position remained in flux all season, and Lamar Holmes was inconsistent at left tackle. No discrepancy was worse than in the 21-20 season-ending home loss to Carolina. Ryan was sacked nine times and hit 14 others. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was sacked once and hit once. Ryan, as hes done throughout his six-year career, refused to blame his teammates for the poor protection. The two-time Pro Bowl QB, who signed a new five-year, $103.75 million contract last summer that guarantees $59 million, was more disturbed about his interception that Panthers cornerback Melvin White returned for a 3-yard touchdown. "Its the end of the season, and Im healthy, but we all have to improve," Ryan said. "I have to play better. We have to play better up front. We have to play better on the outside. Collectively, we didnt play good enough to win." Atlantas defensive line wasnt much better. Releasing veteran end John Abraham last March proved to be a bad decision after he put up big numbers for Arizona. His replacement, free agent acquisition Osi Umenyiora, was unable to hold onto the role he wanted as an every-down end. But Smith and Dimitroff were proud of the performances of rookie cornerback Desmond Trufant, a first-round draft pick, and rookie linebacker Paul Worrilow, an undrafted free agent. ' ' '

Anderson proved that his performance against Miami wasnt a fluke. The unheralded running back got the start because of injuries to Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman and ran for 168 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, pulling in one of two touchdown passes from Peyton Manning and leading the Denver Broncos to a 29-16 victory on Sunday night.I dont like getting tackled, especially by one guy, said Anderson, who had 167 yards rushing against the Dolphins. Its just a mentality I have when I run the ball. If Im being that nasty running back and the O-line is picking me up every play and telling me were going to do it again, its just great to hear that.Connor Barth was also perfect on five field-goal attempts for the Broncos (9-3), who remained a game up on San Diego in the bunched-up AFC West with their sixth straight win over the Chiefs.Kansas City (7-5) is now two games back after losing to Oakland a week ago.Theres really not a phase I can point to that was a positive in this game, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. We all have to do better. Were all in it together. It certainly wasnt the kind of performance expected of the Chiefs, who emerged in a frenzy before the game wearing all-red uniforms for the third time in franchise history. The Chiefs were honouring veteran safety Eric Berry, who will miss the rest of the season after a mass suspected to be lymphoma was found in his chest. Berry has professed his love for the red-on-red look, which the Chiefs wore last year against Dallas and this year versus New England. While the Chiefs won both of those games, they hardly gave themselves a chance on Sunday.Manning capped an effortless 74-yard drive with a 23-yard third-down pass to Thomas in the first quarter. Then, after the Broncos forced a second consecutive three-and-out, Manning found Anderson out of the backfield on third down for a 15-yard touchdown strike to make it 14-0.Even when the Chiefs porous defence stopped the Broncos, they were usually within range for Barth, who was signed to replace ineffective kicker Brandon McManus.Meanwhile, very little was going right for the Chiefs. They had minus-100 yards in the first quarter and were still at 66 yards through the third quarter. College Jerseys. After recovering a fumble deep in Denver territory early in the second half, they managed three yards before kicking a field goal. On their next possession, Smith had a pass batted at the line and intercepted by Ware, the first pick he had thrown in 179 attempts. On the Chiefs next possession, Smith was sacked by Ware on third-and-1 to force another punt.We have to do a better job putting players in the right position and we have to do a better job executing when were in that position, Reid said. We get that fixed, well be back on track, but weve stalled the last two weeks. We have to get this thing turned around.INJURY NEWS: The Broncos escaped without any significant injuries. The Chiefs lost defensive end Allen Bailey to a concussion and offensive guard Mike McGlynn to a bruised quadriceps. James-Michael Johnson experienced back spasms near the end of the game.BRONCOS GROUNDED: Manning only threw for 179 yards, which means the Chiefs still havent allowed a 300-yard passer this season. Small consolation, of course, given the way the Broncos gouged the Chiefs on the ground. They were pretty effective, Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe said. We have to fix it as a defence.CHARLES DISCHARGED: The Chiefs Jamaal Charles had a touchdown reception but he was held to 35 yards on 10 carries. We didnt play hard enough, he said. We played on national TV and we just didnt play well. We have to play better.SUNBARTHING: The Broncos kicker chose to wear No. 1 in honour of Jason Elam, whose franchise record for field goals in a single game he matched Sunday night. He said he was laying out by the pool this time last week, Manning said. He came in here in zero-degree weather and went 5 for 5 in field goals. That was huge.CHEAP SHOT: Broncos linebacker Von Miller delivered a vicious late hit on Smith that earned a 15-yard penalty. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce called it a cheap shot, and made a crude gesture toward Miller that was caught on television cameras.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

who advanced to the tournament semifinals for the first time
Napisane przez: wh3171 - 16.11.2019, 09:02 - Forum: Kosz - Odpowiedzi (1)

NEW YORK -- The latest buzzer-beater at the Big East tournament belongs to a Seton Hall reserve with a familiar last name. Cheap Indians Jerseys . Sterling Gibbs hit a step-back jumper as time expired and Seton Hall stunned No. 3 Villanova 64-63 in a thrilling quarter-final Thursday, a loss that could cost the Wildcats a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. "Were really confident, honestly, especially after you beat the No. 3 team in the country," said Gibbs, a sophomore transfer from Texas whose brother was a Pittsburgh star. "We know if we can beat them, we can beat anyone. So were just up for the challenge." Eugene Teague had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the eighth-seeded Pirates (17-16), who advanced to the tournament semifinals for the first time in 13 years. They will play Friday night against No. 4 seed Providence, which held off fifth-seeded St. Johns 79-74. Josh Hart scored 18 to lead the top-seeded Wildcats (28-4), beaten only twice in 18 regular-season conference games while winning their first outright Big East title since 1982. Both losses were blowouts by Doug McDermott and Creighton. "Youve all heard me say this before: This was not about 1 seeds, 2 seeds. This was about we wanted to come to Madison Square Garden and win the Big East tournament. Winning the Big East tournament would mean much more to us than a 1 seed," Villanova coach Jay Wright said. "The NCAA tournament seedings, my belief is 1, 2, 3, it doesnt matter that much. Youre going to play great teams." Patrik Auda scored all 13 of his points in the first half for Seton Hall, a 10 1/2-point underdog. But the pesky Pirates, accustomed to playing close games, built a 15-point lead and recovered after Villanova spurted past them with a 16-0 run in the second half. It was Seton Halls first victory in five tries against top-seeded teams at the Big East tournament. "We never really got rattled," coach Kevin Willard said. "These guys have a lot of heart. They have a lot of character, and they deserve to win." Villanova took a 63-62 lead on Darrun Hilliards floater in the lane with 7.8 seconds to go. Seton Hall pushed the ball past halfcourt, then called timeout with 3.7 seconds left. With much of the crowd on its feet, Jaren Sina inbounded and Gibbs backed off Hilliard with a hard step back, draining a 17-foot jumper from the top of the key just as the horn sounded. "We usually dont like to call timeouts. We usually like just to go. But I wanted the ball, at that time, in Sterlings hands," Willard said. A fired-up Gibbs, who finished with 10 points, jumped onto the scorers table and looked up at the crowd as excited teammates ran all over the court in a wild celebration. The shot was a near carbon copy of the one Kemba Walker hit three years ago at the Garden during Connecticuts captivating run to Big East and NCAA tournament championships. That buzzer-beating jumper by Walker, also in the quarterfinals, beat a top-seeded Pittsburgh team that was led by Gibbs brother, Ashton. "It ended up being a little bit of a scramble. The plan kind of got switched up a little bit," Sterling Gibbs said before Teague interrupted. "A little bit?" said the senior centre. "Yeah, a lot of bit," Gibbs acknowledged. "In the end, it was supposed to get in my hands and I was supposed to create a shot for my teammates or create a shot for myself, and I just stepped back and hit the jumper." Hilliard scored all 11 of his points in the second half. JayVaughn Pinkston also had 11 for the Wildcats, but the 77 per cent free throw shooter was 3 of 10 at the foul line as the Wildcats went 15 for 25 (60 per cent) to Seton Halls 6-for-9 mark. The Pirates limited Villanova to 37.9 per cent shooting and 21.1 per cent from 3-point range (4 for 19), less than 18 hours after holding Butler to a 2-for-18 mark (11.1 per cent) from long distance in the opening round. "We got the shots we wanted to. We just werent making them," Villanova guard Ryan Arcidiacono said. Playing in the Big East quarterfinals for the first time since 2003, the Pirates won despite getting only seven points from leading scorer Fuquan Edwin on 3-of-15 shooting. Villanova won both regular-season meetings, by an average of 16.5 points, and figured to have an advantage again after Seton Hall had to hold off Butler 51-50 Wednesday night. Early on, though, it was the Pirates who looked fresh even though they had little time to rest. On a bitterly cold day in the Big Apple, the Wildcats took a while to warm up. They missed 13 of their first 14 attempts from 3-point range and trailed 44-31 with 14 minutes remaining. But they made a flurry of steals during a 16-0 run and took their first lead at 47-44 on Hilliards 3-pointer with 8:03 left. Edwin tied it with a 3 and Teague followed with a three-point play to put the Pirates back in front. With the score tied at 59, Arcidiaconos steal sent Villanova on a fast break that culminated in Harts layup with 40 seconds left. Undeterred, the Pirates worked the ball around and Gibbs passed to Sina for a 3 from the left corner that gave them for a 62-61 edge with 17.2 seconds remaining. "That was a great college basketball game," Wright said. "Great to be a part of it. Great atmosphere. The Garden was rocking. We had a lot of fun." James Karinchak Indians Jersey . Coaches are now allowed to challenge both called and potential defensive pass interference fouls under certain conditions. "We are constantly looking for ways to make our great game even better and I believe we have done that today with the approval of this rule change," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. "Being progressive and using technology to compliment the excellent work our officials already do on the field is positive for our teams, players, and ultimately, our fans." The new rule now provides a team with the ability to use coaches challenges to review a called or potential pass interference foul up to the final three minutes of a game. In the final three minutes and overtime, a team can only challenge such a call or non-call once, and only if it still has an unused challenge and a timeout remaining. A coach must challenge to trigger a video review of a pass interference call or a potential pass interference call. They will not be subject to automatic review by the Command Centre. An unsuccessful challenge of a potential pass interference foul in the final three minutes will result in the loss of a timeout. An unsuccessful challenge of an actual pass interference call in the final minutes will not result in the loss of a timeout. The CFL is the first football league to subject pass interference to video review. The role of the Command Centre has also been expanded to automatically review specific turnovers of fumbles lost and interceptions, and can now detect illegal participation fouls during a play (when a player returns to the field after voluntarily leaving it). "We are very much looking forward to implementing the rule changes for the 2014 season now that we have received final approval from our Board," said Glen Johnson, CFL Vice President of Offficiating. Joe Charboneau Jersey. "We went through a very rigorous and inclusive process this off-season and we strongly believe that all of these rule changes will have a positive impact on our game." Other approved rule changes to further protect the health and safety of CFL players include: • Eliminating low blocks below the waist, other than those delivered to the front plane of a player, in all areas of the field except in the area between the tackles and two yards on either side of the line of scrimmage.  • Outlawing peel back blocks, which occur when a play changes direction in the backfield, forcing the defender to modify his pursuit, making him susceptible to blind low blocks executed by an offensive player moving toward his own end zone.  • Clarifying the rules that make it illegal to "deliver a blow" to an opponents neck or head, and when it is illegal for a player to use their helmet to hit an opponent, standards already followed by officials but not yet codified in the rule book. • Requiring an injured player to leave the field for three plays regardless of whether a penalty was called on the action leading to the injury (players currently have the option to stay in the game if a penalty was called on the play.) Other approved changes to promote scoring and improve the flow of the game include: • Allowing quarterbacks for each team to use their own team supplied Wilson footballs, provided they have met the "new ball" quality standard established by the league. • Allowing centres to bob their heads multiple times in an effort to signal timing of the snap of the ball (to be used by visiting teams coping with noise in stadium). • Allowing offences to further dictate the pace of play by no longer requiring the Head Referee to hold the 20 second clock for the defence to substitute.   instead of one who has been involved in football

Transcript:"On December 2nd I received a fax from Commissioner Paul Tagliabue informing me the Bills are being fined $50,000 for criticism on my part of officiating in the last moments of our game with New England. Fake College Jerseys . I described two calls, back-to-back, as probably the worst I have witnessed in the 60 years I have watched pro football. Those two calls cost the Bills a very important game, one in which out team fought back very courageously from a substantial deficit. Society today is more enlightened. Fair comment and criticism are rampant. The entire media as a unit is frank and the millions watching a game are frank. But the Commissioner lecturing to me as if I were a novice, instead of one who has been involved in football infinitely longer than he has, contends that criticizing a call has "destructive and corrosive effects on the game."What is more destructive and corrosive – errant calls in front of millions of viewers or my statements of opinion? People all over the country registered shock at the way officials, however honourable their purpose, took the game away from us. Even the league has admitted to us that the calls near the conclusion of the game were incorrect. On Monday morning the Commissioner can sermonize on destruction and corrosion, but he has never experienced the pain of blowing a crucial game due to officiating. I have yet to decide whether or not I will pay or challenge the fine. But, at 80, I do know I dont need pompous lectures from the Commissioner and I feel that the $50,000 is not only unwarranted, but punitive in nature. The next time he may ask me to sit in corner." New York secured second place in the Metropolitan Division when the Philadelphia Flyers lost at Tampa Bay later Thursday. The Rangers will face either the Flyers or Columbus in the opening round of the post-season. The Rangers struggled throughout against the lowly Sabres and goalie Matt Hackett, who played in just his seventh NHL game of the season. PHILADELPHIA -- There are no secrets to Hunter Pences approach to hitting in crucial situations. His simple strategy worked again. Pence drove in all of San Franciscos runs with a double in the ninth and Madison Bumgarner pitched eight scoreless innings to lead the Giants to a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. "Just go up to compete, try to see the ball and hit the ball," Pence said. Bumgarner (12-7) gave up five hits while striking out six and walking none in a pitchers duel with A.J. Burnett. "It was good to get quick outs tonight," Bumgarner said. It was the sixth win in seven games for first-place San Francisco, which moved two games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. The Giants will look to sweep the four-game series on Thursday. One night after blowing just his third save in 26 chances, closer Jonathan Papelbon (2-2) took the loss. The Phillies offence, which ranks near the bottom of the NL in several categories, managed just seven hits. They lost their fourth straight and seventh of eight. "Its really been the problem weve had the last three games, stranding guys out there," Philadelphia manager Ryne Sandberg said. "And it came up big tonight." Pence broke a scoreless tie with a softly hit blooper down the right-field line off Papelbon on a full count with two outs. "Pence is the guy you want up there," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "He has the knack of putting the ball in the right place. . Pence is amazing. He has so much energy and hes relentless. Were lucky to have him." Whether the last two games have an effect on Papelbons trade prospects remain to be seen. The Philadelphia closer recently has been outspoken about his interest in moving to a contender. "Whatever happens happens," Papelbon said. "I have no control over it." He dismissed the notion that his value would be diminished by his last two outings. "If you were to put the entire season into two games, it would be pretty dumb," he said. Marlon Byrd drove in Philadelphias run in the ninth off Santiago Casilla, who converted his seventh save in 10 chances. The ggame was delayed for 59 minutes by a thunderstorm. Fake Soccer Jerseys. Following resumption in the top of the fourth, the game was played in a persistent drizzle that got heavy at times until the rain finally stopped for good in the eighth inning. Burnett pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out six, walking four and allowing four hits, in a performance that had to have impressed the scouts seated behind home plate. The right-hander has been a rumoured acquisition for contending clubs as the Phillies are looking to sell at the trade deadline to get younger. Bumgarner and Burnett allowed the relievers to rest following Tuesdays 5-hour, 46-minute marathon in which 16 pitchers were used in the Giants 9-6, 14-inning victory. "What a job he did," Bochy said of Bumgarner. "He saved our skin tonight. He gave us everything we needed and more. And Burnett too. They were both locked in." Some small puddles formed on the left side of the infield, but second base umpire Bill Miller never halted the game again after the first stoppage. Pence was involved in a strange play in the eighth. After leading off with a walk, he took off for second but overslid the bag. He popped up and rather than try to go back to second, he darted toward third as shortstop Jimmy Rollins chased him in a scene reminiscent of tag on the school yard. About halfway to third, Rollins tossed to third baseman Andres Blanco who applied the tag for an unusual 2-6-5 caught stealing. It was the second caught stealing in as many attempts for the Giants, as Ehire Adrianza overslid the bag in the sixth and was tagged out by Chase Utley. NOTES: Burnett moved to 48th all-time in strikeouts, passing Dwight Gooden, with a first-inning fanning of Tyler Colvin. ... Philadelphia activated Ruiz (concussion) from the DL. Ruiz had been out since June 26. To make room for Ruiz, the Phillies sent C Cameron Rupp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Philadelphia also recalled RHP Phillippe Aumont from Lehigh Valley and designated RHP Jeff Manship for assignment. ... The teams conclude the four-game series on Thursday with Phillies LHP Cole Hamels (4-5, 2.83) facing RHP Tim Hudson (8-6, 2.78). ' ' '

a comparatively meek answer to Cincinnatis
Napisane przez: wh3171 - 16.11.2019, 08:56 - Forum: Kosz - Odpowiedzi (1)

CINCINNATI – Theres a lot to say about what happened at Great American Ballpark on Friday night but Erik Kratz needed only three words to aptly describe a 14-9 Blue Jays win over the Reds. China Jerseys Wholesale . "It was awesome," he said. Coming off an ugly three-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees, Toronto found itself in a deep hole early after the Reds put an eight spot up on starter Liam Hendriks (six runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched) and Todd Redmond in the second. All seemed lost, but then the offence, relatively dormant in a stretch of nine losses in 12 games, came to life. As it is with these Blue Jays, as it seems it must be, home runs played a significant role in the comeback. Edwin Encarnacion hit two. The first was the most important. Encarnacion took Mat Latos deep for a three-run shot in the third, a comparatively meek answer to Cincinnatis eight runs the half-inning prior, but the Jays were on the board nonetheless. Brett Lawrie hit a one out homer in the seventh to cut the deficit to 9-6. Three batters later, pinch hitter Juan Francisco hit a two-run shot off journeyman Reds reliever Jumbo Diaz. The score was 9-8, officially nail-biting time for the 33,103 predomiantly Reds fans in attendance. Encarnacion sealed the deal with another three-run home run in the ninth. By that time the Jays were ahead and the second deck shot extended the lead to 14-9. Suddenly, Encarnacion is baseballs leader with 23 home runs. He has three in two games, a sign hes coming out of his slump. "I think we got the emotion back," said Encarnacion. "Everybody in the dugout felt very happy. We felt we could come back." Starting catcher, Dioner Navarro, hit a two out, game-tying double off Jonathan Broxton in the eighth. His replacement in a double switch, Erik Kratz, hit the go-ahead double off flamethrower Aroldis Chapman in the ninth. That Jays put up runs on Cincinnatis formidable one-two bullpen punch (Broxton had a 0.40 ERA entering the game, Chapman a 0.98 ERA) was a feat in itself. "His ball, it comes out of a different slot, too," said Kratz of Chapman, who consistently throws a fastball harder than 100 miles per hour. "Hes coiled up and he comes at you with the noise and thats why hes had so much success." Adam Lind contributed a pinch hit RBI single. Jose Bautista walked four times. Brett Lawrie, who missed Thursdays game in New York with a bruised hand, returned and had three hits. Lawrie was one of six Blue Jays who registered a multi-hit performance. "Yeah, wed lost three in a row," said Kratz. "Yeah, we had lost three in a row but I dont think anybody was sitting here, like, Uh, are we going to win another game? Just like when we had won nine in a row but nobody ever said we had to win 20 in a row. We tried to win our 10th in a row and I think thats something the team does incredibly well. You saw tonight, grinding out each at-bat. Each at-bat that we grind out is just the way were going to play the game. We cant beat anybody tomorrow but we can beat them today." Manager John Gibbons wasnt aware of the specific details but hes been around long enough to know these types of comebacks are historic. "I may never see another game like that, you may never see another game like that so enjoy it and hope it leads to better things," said Gibbons. The eight-run comeback marked the second largest deficit the Blue Jays have overcome in the franchises 38-year history. Long-time fans, certainly those old enough to remember, will recall June 4, 1989 with fondness. The Jays trailed the Red Sox 10-0 at Fenway Park and rallied for a 13-11 win in 12 innings. VOTTO TALKS ENCARNACION Toronto-born Joey Votto is taking it in from a distance. Hes enjoying the success his former teammate and good buddy, Edwin Encarnacion, is enjoying in Vottos hometown. "Hes a teammate that I really am very fond of and Im very proud of him, how well hes done," said Votto. "There are some guys you tune into and you almost, I dont want to use the word awe but you watch and you think to yourself, what do I have to do to get my swing to that point? That May stretch certainly was like that and he and Bautista are two really fun guys to watch." Encarnacions 23 home runs lead Baltimores Nelson Cruz (22). His 62 RBIs also lead the Majors. So enamored was Votto with Encarnacions 16-home run month of May, he sent Encarnacion a text on the afternoon of May 29. Votto admitted the message was profanity-laced and jokingly disparaging. He called upon Encarnacion to hit two home runs in the Jays game against the Royals that night. Encarnacion did just that. "He didnt answer me back until the second home run in the seventh inning," said Votto. "He responded back that night and I asked for some hitting tips. He was kind of coy about it." Encarnacion and Votto were teammates in Cincinnati from the time Votto broke in to the big leagues, in 2007, until Encarnacion was traded to the Blue Jays in 2009. BAUTISTA AND TWITTER Jose Bautista is amongst the major leaguers most active on social media. He has accounts on Twitter and Instagram (@joeybats19) and maintains Facebook and Youtube pages. "Its part of being an athlete today," said Bautista. "If youre not taking advantage of social media and using it to interact with your fans and giving them a sneak peak into your personal life and how you prepare and what youre about then shame on you." If you give Bautista a Twitter follow, chances are hell follow you back. Bautista is closing in on 514-thousand followers. He follows almost 230-thousand accounts. "Im glad Ive been able to use it in the right way I believe," said Bautista. "Just connecting with the fans and giving them the access that theyve wanted for so long." China Jerseys Stitched . Pretty good hitting, too. Dan Haren pitched six innings and sparked the go-ahead rally with a single, leading Los Angeles to another win over the skidding Atlanta Braves, 4-2 on Tuesday night. It is unclear how long Kallstrom, who was brought in to alleviate the teams midfield problems, will be sidelined. Arsenals communications director, Mark Gonnella, says the club decided to proceed with Kallstroms signing despite the injury.MINNEAPOLIS -- Felix Hernandez stopped another slide for Seattle on Sunday. Hernandez pitched eight strong innings and Robinson Cano had four hits and the Mariners defeated the Minnesota Twins 6-2. The Mariners were winless since King Felixs previous start, but Hernandez (5-1) helped snap their four-game skid by giving up two runs and seven hits while striking out five and walking one. "Its always a confidence builder coming to the park when we know hes pitching. Typically we know that we dont have to put up too many runs to come out with a W," Mariners right fielder Michael Saunders said. Hernandez has been especially tough on the Twins in recent years. In his past four starts against Minnesota, he has pitched 34 innings and allowed three earned runs with 30 strikeouts. "Its the same old story -- really good stuff," Twins left fielder Jason Kubel said of facing Hernandez. "Hes just tough, one of the toughest guys to hit." The Twins, who have won three straight series and six of nine overall, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a rally keyed by a successful replay challenge. With a man on first and nobody out, shortstop Danny Santana hit a dribbler to first baseman Justin Smoak, who flipped the ball to Hernandez covering at first. Santana was ruled out on the play, but replays showed that his foot hit the bag just before the pitcher arrived. Hernandez almost got out of the jam, striking out Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer on two-strike sliders, but Trevor Plouffe scored both runners with a two-out single to right-centre to put Minnesota on top 2-0. "I made one mistake," Hernandez said of his performance on Sunday. "I left that slider a little bit up against Plouffe and he got that hit. It was off the plate, but he put a good swing on it. "I was a little (angry). I did not put a zero on the scoreboard. After that I made better pitches." Meanwhile, after Twins starter Ricky Nolasco (2-4) breezed through the first three innings, the Mariners rallied by going deep in the count aand making Nolasco work the second time through the order. Cheap Jerseys From China. They got one run back on Kyle Seagers RBI single in the fourth, but they also drove up Nolascos pitch count by making him throw 33 pitches that inning. Nolascos ability to avoid trouble ran out in the fifth. James Jones led off with an infield single, then scored on Michael Saunders triple to right field. Cano followed with a shot off the centre field wall for an RBI double that gave Seattle a 3-2 lead. By the end of the inning, Nolasco had thrown 100 pitches and was done for the day. And Hernandez had all the runs he needed to snap that losing streak. "With that guy over there, you have to play perfect baseball," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We didnt do that. We gave them a few too many chances, and when you give them chances like that, thats what happens." Saunders added a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, Justin Smoak had an RBI double in the seventh and Cano scored on a wild pitch in the ninth as the Mariners pulled away. Mariners closer Fernando Rodney worked a scoreless ninth in a non-save situation to cap what Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon called an "ideal" day. "Our starter went eight and we got our closer some much-needed work," McClendon said. "It was perfect." Notes: McClendon said that the team will decide later this week whether 1B/OF Logan Morrison is ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Morrison has missed five weeks with a strained right hamstring. ... Seattle DH Corey Hart left the game in the fourth inning after straining his left hamstring while stealing second base. ... Canos single in the fourth extended his on-base streak to 26 games, the longest in the major leagues this year. ... The Twins will send RHP Kevin Correia (1-5, 6.80) to the mound when they open a two-game series at San Diego on Tuesday. ... The Mariners also have a day off Monday. They will travel to Texas for a two-game set against the Rangers, with RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (2-0, 1.59) starting on Tuesday. ' ' '
